Position Overview

This role is part of the Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations team (GTIO), dedicated to delivering modern and relevant technology that enhances McDonald's operations. We provide essential foundational technology products and services, including Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management, with the aim of ensuring an engaging, relevant, and streamlined experience for our customers.

The Cloud Infrastructure Automation Engineer role is situated within the Cloud Infrastructure and Operations team in Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations. Reporting to the Director of Enterprise DevSecOps Platform, this position is tasked with supporting, migrating, automating, and optimizing the software development and deployment processes while advancing the Enterprise DevSecOps program.

You will collaborate closely with internal and external software developers, operations engineers, and various stakeholders to ensure that the software delivery process is efficient, secure, and scalable. Your support will extend to Corporate, Security, Digital, Data, Restaurant, and Market application and product teams, enabling the effective delivery of DevOps standards and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the management, design, and solutioning of software development and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with vendors to standardize and engineer DevSecOps tools.
  • Create reusable pipeline templates for automated deployment of cloud infrastructure and code.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality automation workflows that align with business and technology strategies.
  • Support the development and maintenance of infrastructure and tools that facilitate the software development and deployment process.
  • Establish a continuous automation framework for software development and deployment.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot the software delivery process.
  • Work alongside software developers and operations engineers to enhance the software delivery process.
  • Stay informed about the latest DevSecOps practices and technologies.
  • Drive proof of concepts and conduct technical feasibility studies for business requirements.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients.
  • Effectively communicate project status, risks, and issues to program partners, sponsors, and management teams.
  • Independently resolve conflicts related to prioritization and scope while escalating complex issues to senior management.
  • Thrive in an agile environment as a self-starter, capable of devising solutions and executing them while coordinating with other teams.
Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with AWS and Azure, with a willingness to enhance skills as the company expands its adoption.
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Hands-on knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code and related technologies (e.g., repositories, pipelines, Terraform).
  • Understanding of IaaS and PaaS offerings in AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Prior experience in DevSecOps and/or automation.
  • Proficiency in scripting or automating tasks using languages such as Bash, Powershell, Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of the AWS Platform, preferably with 2+ years of AWS/Kubernetes experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with DevOps pipelines for automating, building, and deploying Microservice Applications, APIs, and Non-Container Artifacts.
  • 2+ years of experience with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Helm Charts, and SonarQube.
  • 2+ years of practical experience with CI/CD technologies, including Microservices, Terraform, and Pipeline creation/management (e.g., GitHub, Artifactory/JFROG).
  • 2+ years of experience working with Cloud technologies.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, New Relic, and the open-source observability ecosystem (Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger).

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in Information Technology.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of application development experience using agile methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines, along with experience in Kubernetes and the AWS platform.
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of End-to-End DevOps technologies.
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement scalable, elastic microservice-based platforms.
  • Capability to assist the team in resolving technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.
  • Preferred experience with Code Quality SAST and DAST tools like SonarQube/SonarCloud, Veracode, Checkmarx, and Snyk.
  • Experience with container-based technologies.
  • Any AWS Certification (preferably in DevOps).
  • Any Agile certification, preferably in scaled agile.
