Key Responsibilities

The Optical Systems Technician plays a vital role in supporting the development of our innovative systems and ensuring we meet our clients' expectations.

  • Construct optical subassemblies and integrate them with electrical and mechanical components for prototypes and production units.
  • Assist in the transition of photonic subsystem designs into full-scale production.
  • Procure parts, materials, and equipment necessary for the assembly and testing of photonic subassemblies.
  • Conduct optical or electrical testing and characterization as directed by design engineers.
  • Organize, document, and present data for engineering review and analysis.
  • Assemble test setups and design as well as procure test fixtures as needed.
  • Oversee and maintain the laboratory and its equipment.
  • Obtain and retain a government security clearance as required for the position.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with demonstrated expertise in:
    • Optical fiber splicing techniques and equipment, including arc fusion splicers, cleavers, and re-coaters.
    • Utilizing optical sources, power meters, spectrum analyzers, and other optical and electrical testing instruments.
    • Hands-on skills in assembling complex photonic, electro-optic, and electronic systems.
    • PC board soldering and cable fabrication.
    • Testing optical and electrical components.
    • Constructing various fiber optic connectors, including APC and termini type ferrules.
    • Custom fine assembly experience.
    • Managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
    • Preferred: Associate's Degree and/or Certified Fiber Optic Installer/Technician ETA.
