Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee operations in primary and secondary machining processes, including chemical treatment for cleaning and plating of production components, as well as material handling.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of machine setups, machining processes, chemical treatments, material handling, quality assurance programs, safety protocols, and resource management.
  • Familiarity with production planning principles is essential.
  • Drive positive transformations across all departmental operations by employing continuous improvement methodologies, teamwork, and shop floor metrics, focusing on quality, cost efficiency, delivery timelines, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Execute managerial duties in alignment with the organization's policies and relevant regulations.
  • Plan, assign, and oversee work, evaluate employee performance, recognize achievements, address grievances, and resolve issues.
  • Utilize available resources effectively to meet production deadlines and uphold quality standards.
  • Manage and schedule personnel and activities within designated areas of responsibility.
  • Implement and track productivity enhancements, including cycle time reductions and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and promptly address any safety concerns.
  • Work additional hours as necessary to fulfill tasks and meet production requirements.
  • Initiate and follow through on action items aimed at enhancing production methods, equipment efficiency, and product quality.
  • Coordinate workforce needs to adapt to changing operational conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with proper procedures for shop orders, in-house inspections, operator assessments, nonconformance issues, and material disposition.
  • Verify that all operational methods and ISO procedures are current, adhered to, and that effective training programs are maintained and documented.
  • Exhibit strong leadership by setting a positive example.
  • Ensure that preventative maintenance is consistently performed and documented according to established methods.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor employees.

Qualifications

Knowledge Required:

  • Understanding of production planning principles.
  • Knowledge of setups, machining, material handling, chemical processing (including bright dip and plating), ISO standards, machine maintenance, and safety programs.
  • Experience with Acme screw machines is preferred; CNC machining knowledge is essential.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with machinists and plant management.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Skilled in measuring and gauging parts using industry-standard tools such as micrometers and gages.
  • Able to comprehend and interpret safety rules and procedural manuals.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Aim to elevate machining operations to a world-class standard.
  • Ability to present information effectively to groups of employees.
  • Proficient in basic math skills across various units of measure.
  • Ability to calculate percentages and interpret graphical data.
  • Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  • Competent in generating production-related reports.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel; proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with ADP systems is a significant advantage.

Experience and Training:

  • A minimum of ten years of experience in manufacturing operations, including machining, industrial assembly, chemical processing for cleaning and plating, and material handling.
  • At least five years of experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • High personal integrity is essential.

Education:

  • An associate degree in Sciences, Engineering, or Business Administration is preferred, or relevant industry experience.
