Key Responsibilities and Duties

The following responsibilities are essential. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

  • Oversee operations in primary and secondary machining processes, including chemical treatment for cleaning and plating of production components, along with material handling.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of machine setups, machining processes, chemical treatments, material handling, quality assurance programs, safety protocols, and resource management.
  • Possess knowledge of production planning principles.
  • Drive positive transformations in departmental operations through continuous improvement strategies, teamwork, and performance metrics related to quality, cost, delivery, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Execute managerial duties in alignment with organizational policies and relevant regulations.
  • Plan, allocate, and oversee work assignments, evaluate employee performance, recognize achievements, and address disciplinary matters.
  • Utilize available resources effectively to meet production timelines and uphold quality standards.
  • Manage personnel and activities within designated areas of responsibility.
  • Implement and track productivity enhancements, including cycle time reductions and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and promptly resolve any safety concerns.
  • Commit to working additional hours as necessary to fulfill tasks and meet production deadlines.
  • Initiate and pursue action items aimed at enhancing production techniques, equipment efficiency, and product quality.
  • Coordinate staffing needs to adapt to evolving operational conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures for shop orders, internal inspections, operator assessments, nonconformance issues, and material disposition.
  • Verify that operational methods and ISO standards are current, effectively implemented, and that training programs are maintained and documented.
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities by setting a positive example.
  • Guarantee that preventative maintenance is conducted and recorded according to established methods consistently.
  • Showcase effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor team members.

Qualifications

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Understanding of production planning concepts.
  • Familiarity with setups, machining, material handling, chemical processing (including bright dip and plating), ISO standards, machine maintenance, and safety programs.
  • Experience with Acme screw machines is preferred; CNC machining knowledge is essential.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with machinists and plant management.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Skilled in measuring and gauging parts using standard industry tools such as micrometers and gages.
  • Adept at reading and understanding safety regulations and procedural manuals.
  • Capable of composing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Committed to elevating machining operations to a world-class standard.
  • Effective public speaking skills for addressing groups of employees.
  • Proficient in basic mathematics across various units of measure.
  • Able to calculate percentages and interpret graphical data.
  • Ability to apply common sense to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  • Competent in generating production-related reports.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel; proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with ADP systems is a significant advantage.

Experience and Training:

  • A minimum of ten years of experience in manufacturing operations, including machining, industrial assembly, chemical processing for cleaning and plating, and material handling.
  • At least five years of experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of personal integrity.

Educational Background:

  • An associate degree in Sciences, Engineering, or Business Administration is preferred, or relevant industry experience.
