Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Market Engineering Manager to oversee the technical operations of our multi-station broadcast radio facility in the Tri-Cities and Yakima markets. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our radio stations, including nine FM stations, three FM translators, and four directional AM stations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Operations: Manage activities to achieve a goal of 100% uptime of station on-air and streaming products.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all Company Engineering and Information Technology practices.
  • Leadership: Interface with Senior Vice President of Engineering and Senior Vice President, Information Technology.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect, repair, and maintain all broadcast radio station equipment, including transmitters, antennas, satellite downlinks, automation system, studio equipment, remote equipment, generators, telephone system, and other related equipment.
  • AM Directional Antenna Experience: Possess experience with AM directional antennas.
  • AoIP and Automation Systems: Install and maintain AoIP and automation systems, with a preference for Zetta and Wheatstone experience.
  • EAS Systems: Ensure EAS systems logging compliance and equipment maintenance.
  • IT Support: Provide personal computer, servers, printers, software maintenance, and updating.
  • Networking: Familiarity with Microsoft Windows (all versions), Microsoft Office, Networking concepts, and computer hardware, wireless, and handheld devices.
  • LAN Systems: Install and maintain LAN systems.
  • Interfacing with Staff: Ability to interface with programming and other staff to achieve desired goals.
  • FCC Compliance: Ensure compliance with FCC technical rules and perform duties of Chief Operator.
  • After-Hours Work: Perform after-hours and weekend work as required.
Requirements
  • Technical Training: Technical training school, or two to four years related experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent Combination: Equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • Certifications: SBE or computer-related certification helpful, but not necessary.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Writing Skills: Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Public Speaking: Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Instruction Following: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Physical Demands: Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical Abilities: Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Vision Requirements: Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
