Engineering Technician

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to join our team. As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for updating project drawings to reflect as-built conditions, investigating and correcting drawing discrepancies, and maintaining an up-to-date project drawing file. You will also prepare complete drawings, including plans, schematics, details, and sections, for construction and modification of structures, utilities, recreation facilities, and mechanical and electrical equipment. Additionally, you will monitor, record, and interpret project structural instrumentation on a prescribed schedule.
Requirements:
To qualify for this position, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service, which includes reviewing and performing proofreading or quality control of data in at least one type of computerized system, reviewing and editing documents, and utilizing basic features of spreadsheets for various tracking purposes. Alternatively, you may have a four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology, or a combination of education and experience that meets the requirements.
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes experience using standard drafting techniques or experience using computer-aided design and drafting systems to produce or update engineering drawings as directed by others. You will also be responsible for performing basic engineering computations, data collection, presentation, and analysis, and using Computer Aided Drawing software to update technical drawings from sketches.
Education:
You may also qualify for this position with one half year of graduate level education leading to a master's degree, including any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
Additional Information:
This position is eligible for situational telework only. Management may select from any grade level announced. Non-competitive promotion to the full performance grade level. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
