Job Title: Peer Support Advocate - Corh

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Advocate to join our team at the YWCA of Greater Portland. As a Peer Support Advocate, you will play a vital role in supporting survivors of domestic violence in their journey towards healing and recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strength-based, trauma-informed peer support to residents in our Corh program.
  • Develop and facilitate curriculum for monthly Corh Household meetings, focusing on wellness, shared living, and self-sufficiency.
  • Use a housing-first approach to support survivors in attaining or retaining safe housing, addressing emergency situations as needed.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency InReach teams to coordinate services and discuss programming.
  • Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with housing providers, social services agencies, and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Peer Wellness Specialist Certification
  • 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate Training
  • Motivational Interviewing Training
  • Familiarity with domestic violence programs, community recovery resources, and treatment programs.
  • Ability to build rapport with survivors from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, maintain confidentiality, and treat others with respect and dignity.
