Department Overview:

Our mission-driven team collaborates closely with government and industry partners to enhance cybersecurity for industrial control systems across vital sectors. We are looking for cyber defenders with expertise in Operational Technology (OT), ICS, SCADA, and IoT, who are interested in integrated security operations, threat-informed cyber defense, and cyber resiliency.

Key Responsibilities:

This team engages directly with government and critical infrastructure stakeholders to bolster the cybersecurity of essential operational technology systems. Building relationships based on a deep understanding of our sponsors' unique missions and challenges is as crucial as possessing specific technical skills. Candidates should have a broad cyber experience and specialized knowledge applicable to sponsor needs. Responsibilities may include:

  • Collaborating with government and critical infrastructure operators to define requirements for new cybersecurity technologies, conducting applied research, and facilitating operational pilots.
  • Designing and implementing cyber sensor and analytics architectures to enhance OT cybersecurity operations, threat hunting, and forensic analysis.
  • Improving situational awareness of OT assets through data analytics and anomaly detection.
  • Conducting analyses of cyber mission dependencies and adversary scenarios to inform the design of resilient OT architectures.
  • Researching and developing defensive tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for responding to cyber threats.
  • Utilizing MITRE ATT&CK frameworks to enhance detection capabilities and support adversary hunting in OT environments.
  • Developing and operationalizing cyber resiliency solutions for OT/ICS SCADA systems.
  • Performing forensic analysis of OT devices to aid in cyber incident investigations.
  • Executing attack emulation and deception operations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in one or more areas listed in the responsibilities.
  • Background in industrial control system cybersecurity or cyber operations within electric, gas, manufacturing, or water utilities.
  • Eligibility for government security clearance is required.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cybersecurity for distributed energy resources and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with federal departments and critical infrastructure organizations.
  • Knowledge of embedded system firmware or real-time operating systems.
  • Experience with OT network monitoring technologies.
  • Understanding of OT adversary emulation techniques.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity policies and standards related to ICS/SCADA.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
