Position Overview

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Pediatric Neurology plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive patient care. This position collaborates closely with consulting physicians and a multidisciplinary health team to address the unique health challenges faced by children with neurological conditions.

Department Information

The Section of Pediatric Neurology is dedicated to offering exceptional care tailored to the specialized needs of children experiencing neurological disorders, brain injuries, or related issues. Our commitment to high-quality patient care is supported by a team of skilled faculty and researchers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care while formulating care plans in partnership with physicians and nursing staff.
  • Communicate follow-up plans effectively with healthcare providers.
  • Prescribe and assess pharmacological treatments in accordance with established protocols.
  • Attend to both high and low-risk deliveries as necessary.
  • Stabilize and transport patients when required.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of current professional and legal standards relevant to practice.
  • Identify educational needs of families and provide appropriate teaching.
  • Ensure systems and resources are in place to uphold established care standards.
  • Engage in self and peer evaluations to enhance care quality.
  • Contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and educational outreach programs.
  • Act as a clinical resource for staff, providing guidance on skills and practices.
  • Support clinical research projects under the supervision of attending physicians.
  • Serve as a mentor to APP students.
Qualifications

Education: A degree from an accredited institution is required.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a related field is necessary.

Certifications: Current eligibility for licensure in the State of Illinois is required, along with the ability to be privileged through the Medical Staff Office.

Preferred Qualifications: An advanced nursing degree or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program is highly desirable.
