Position Overview

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Pediatric Neurology plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care. This position involves collaboration with physicians and a multidisciplinary health team to ensure comprehensive management of pediatric patients with neurological conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care and develop care plans in partnership with physicians and nursing staff.
  • Communicate follow-up plans effectively with healthcare providers.
  • Prescribe and assess pharmacological treatments as per established protocols.
  • Attend to both high and low-risk deliveries as required.
  • Stabilize and transport patients when necessary.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of current professional and legal trends impacting practice.
  • Identify educational needs of families and provide appropriate teaching.
  • Ensure systems and resources are in place to uphold established care standards.
  • Engage in self and peer evaluations to enhance care quality.
  • Contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide in-service training and outreach education.
  • Act as a clinical resource for staff.
  • May assist in clinical research projects under physician supervision.
  • Serve as a mentor to APP students.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and document findings accurately.
  • Analyze diagnostic data to inform treatment decisions.
  • Understand drug regimens and potential interactions with other substances.
  • Evaluate treatment goals considering safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to meet patient care objectives.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Applicants must possess a degree from an accredited institution.

Work Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a related field is required.

Certifications:
Current or eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois is mandatory, along with eligibility for privileges through the Medical Staff Office.

Preferred Qualifications
Education:
An advanced nursing degree or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program is preferred.
