Job Summary:

Clinical Assessors play a vital role in ensuring that Comprehensive Needs Assessments and service authorizations are completed accurately and thoroughly. This position is responsible for improving access and serving as the primary point of contact for initiating services.

The assessments conducted primarily take place in clients' homes, although they may also occur in schools or other community settings. The client population served includes children, adolescents, and adults with behavioral health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Comprehensive Needs Assessments (CNA):
    • Meet face-to-face with clients and their guardians (if applicable) to gather relevant clinical information.
    • Complete intake forms, including necessary releases.
    • Write the narrative of the CNA, as outlined in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) form.
    • Populate the client's profile in the EHR, including diagnoses, medications, allergies, and other relevant information.
    • Connect with associated professionals who have been involved with the assessed client.
    • Recommend services based on the CNA.
    • Complete the referral management workflow.
  • Conduct the Service Authorization Process:
    • Complete the Service Authorization Form in the EHR.
    • Submit the form to the appropriate Managed Care Organization (MCO) via electronic fax or MCO portals.
    • Interact with the MCO Care Coordinator (if necessary) regarding additional information requests or service justification.
    • Notify local leadership and the NCG authorization specialist about completion.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Respond promptly to all communication, including emails and voicemails.
  • Be proficient in G-Suite.
  • Participate in mandated team meetings and case staffings with supervisor teams.
  • Maintain office hours to support clinical teams with completing assessments and/or authorizations, reviewing portals for authorization approvals, and uploading or addressing relevant assessment and authorization documents in the EHR.
  • Be responsive and available to meet the dynamic needs of clients and clinical supervisor staff.
