Job Summary

Compass Group, a leading global foodservice and support services company, is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Counsel to join its Legal Department at its U.S. headquarters in Charlotte, NC. The successful candidate will provide legal support to the Compass Technology department, specifically its Vendor Strategy Office, which oversees the procurement and management of technology vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Review and Negotiation: Review and negotiate a wide range of technology-related contracts, including software subscription and licensing agreements, professional services agreements, hardware and equipment agreements, payment services agreements, and other ancillary agreements.
  • Vendor Management: Provide legal advice and support to the VSO regarding vendor onboarding due diligence, risk assessments, and ongoing management of critical vendor relationships.
  • Contract Template Development: Work closely with the VSO to understand business needs and ensure contract templates are aligned with company objectives and legal requirements, which includes ongoing refinement of existing templates and development of new templates.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, quality assurance, finance, compliance, and risk management, to address legal issues related to technology vendor procurement and management.
  • Privacy and Data Protection: Work closely with the Compass Privacy Team to identify and address privacy-related considerations related to technology vendor solutions.
  • Training and Development: Stay updated with changes in privacy laws, artificial intelligence, and other legal trends related to technology, and provide routine training to VSO team members on legal updates impacting technology solutions.
  • Process Development and Monitoring: Participate in the development and implementation of vendor procurement processes and monitor key operational controls and policies related to vendor management.
Requirements
  • Education: Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school with accompanying state licensure.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in the essential job duties described above, developed either at a law firm or as part of an in-house legal department, is preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of enterprise technology solutions with a strong understanding of contracts related to software and technology services is preferred. Proven ability in the following: proactively seeking and executing creative solutions, providing strong customer service, and partnering and communicating effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret laws, rules, and regulations, legal documents, and financial and other reports, with experience in the principles, practices, and laws associated with procurement-related matters.
  • Team Player: Team player in a fast-paced, high-volume, and constantly changing environment.
