Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Metasys Technologies, Inc. is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team in Springfield, VA.

Job Summary:

This role involves driving to support facilities maintenance in Springfield, VA, and surrounding areas, utilizing a company vehicle. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining inventory of supplies and small tools, performing basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks, and conducting preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and small tools, ensuring that all necessary equipment is readily available.
  • Perform basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks, including repairs and maintenance of facilities equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, ensuring that they are functioning efficiently and effectively.
  • Operate Building Management Systems (BMS) for comfort adjustments, ensuring that the facilities are maintained at a comfortable temperature.
  • Plan and relocate furniture and office equipment for events, ensuring that the facilities are prepared for any occasion.
  • Solicit vendor cost estimates and review invoices for accuracy, ensuring that the company is getting the best value for its money.
  • Respond to emergency calls and evaluate damages, ensuring that the facilities are secure and safe.
  • Conduct routine inspections and address safety matters, ensuring that the facilities are compliant with all relevant regulations.
  • Perform minor landscaping and janitorial duties, ensuring that the facilities are clean and well-maintained.
  • Assist with shipping, receiving, and mail delivery, ensuring that all packages and mail are handled efficiently.
  • Execute ergonomic modifications to furniture/equipment, ensuring that the facilities are safe and comfortable for employees.
  • Lead facilities maintenance operations and manage service ticket requests, ensuring that all maintenance requests are handled promptly and efficiently.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned, including quarterly inspections, ensuring that the facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
Requirements:
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED; 2+ years in facilities operations.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Basic math skills; ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Must possess a forklift operator's certificate.
  • Knowledge of building systems and technology.
Preferred:
  • AS/AA or Technical Certification in a related field.
  • Experience in telecommunications and operating commercial HVAC systems.
  • Certification in operating lifting equipment.
Environment and Working Conditions:
  • Office and outdoor work; exposure to inclement weather.
  • Requires physical tasks, including lifting up to 80 pounds and using ladders.
  • Occasional travel for emergency responses day and night.
Performance Measures:
  • Meet service ticket SLA 98% of the time.
Confidentiality:
  • Handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Tools and Equipment:
  • Company vehicle, smartphone, computer, hand tools, and material carts.
Financial Accountability:
  • Solicit maintenance proposals and verify vendor work orders.
