Job Overview

The Equipment Maintenance Specialist will play a crucial role in delivering technical maintenance support associated with work order management, installation, repair, and servicing of equipment, while ensuring the highest standards of wash quality and overall product integrity. This position involves the training of team members on maintenance protocols, repair techniques, and safety regulations through structured training initiatives and scheduled site assessments. The primary objective is to minimize downtime, effectively manage site-level work orders, and adhere to allocated capital and operational budgets. Collaboration with the District Manager, Site Managers, local team members, and the Maintenance Director is essential to promptly address wash quality and facility-related challenges. Additionally, this role includes oversight and follow-up on any scheduled projects managed by third-party vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance Support: Provide technical expertise during wash operations.
  • Install and upgrade wash equipment, components, and perform repairs and troubleshooting on-site.
  • Ensure machinery and mechanical systems operate efficiently by completing preventive maintenance tasks, following technical documentation, and troubleshooting issues while mentoring others.
  • Identify issues by observing equipment in use, listening for irregularities, and utilizing precision measurement tools.
  • Dismantle devices to remove defective components using hoists and hand tools, examining parts for quality.
  • Adjust functional components and control instruments using hand tools.
  • Conduct advanced electrical work, plumbing maintenance, and the assembly and disassembly of machinery.
  • Engage in metal fabrication and welding tasks.
  • Provide resources and support to site teams to enhance customer wash experiences.
  • Conduct scheduled site visits weekly to designated locations.
  • Participate actively in weekly meetings with operations and support teams.
  • Manage projects that may require work outside of standard business hours.
Wash Quality Assurance:
  • Achieve work order targets as outlined in the budget.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards.
  • Ensure the landscaping is kept tidy and presentable.
  • Attend weekly wash quality meetings with district and facility management.
  • Perform wash quality audits and ensure proper follow-up actions are documented through work orders.
Organizational Collaboration:
  • Work alongside the District Manager and Site Managers to provide expert guidance on facilities and train local team members.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Maintenance Director to align production with budgetary constraints.
  • Assist in the launch of new locations and acquisitions.
  • Coordinate with the support office to fulfill any licensing or permitting obligations.
  • Engage directly with the District Manager and Facilities Maintenance Director to resolve operational issues and review overall tunnel operations.
  • Travel between sites in the district for repairs and new equipment installations.
  • Partner with district and area teams to execute high-priority projects and implement new technologies.
  • Schedule and oversee repair and maintenance initiatives.
Budget Management:
  • Adhere to budgetary standards for facility and equipment repairs and capital expenditure projects.
  • Enhance vehicle counts through operational efficiencies.
  • Minimize or eliminate downtime within the targeted monthly budget for each location.
Training and Development:
  • Facilitate training sessions with Site Managers.
  • Participate in onboarding training for new District Manager hires regarding daily operations and facility-related tasks.
  • Provide on-site training for team members focused on wash quality and safety best practices.

Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an industrial, facilities, or manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical and electrical components such as shafts, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, motors, and drives.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Associate degree, relevant technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Preferred certification from a technical or trade school beyond high school.
  • Ability to effectively train team members on safe equipment operation while ensuring a high-quality customer experience.
  • Strong time management and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred experience in car wash management or mechanical fields.
  • Proactive approach to identifying tasks and programs for completion and documentation; ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Availability for on-call duties during weekends.
  • Willingness to undertake projects during evening hours as needed.
  • Extensive travel may be required.
