Job Summary

The Meat Clerk is an hourly part-time or full-time position responsible for maintaining stock levels within the Meat Department's sales floor by replenishing products as needed. This role executes the boomerang theory by providing exceptional service to all guests behind the service counter and on the sales floor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Guest Service: Assist guests with finding items they are looking for on or off the sales floor, receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and other special requests, and provide excellent guest services by professionally answering department telephone or in on the sales floor.
  • Team Support: Support teammates and positively contribute to the culture of the Meat Department, address guest concerns and resolve issues by practicing the boomerang principle, and maintain proper inventory levels in Meat Department (containers, wraps, tags, etc.).
  • Quality Control: Ensure high standard quality control by inspecting, rotating, maintaining proper temperatures, and replenishing all meat products on display, and maintain food safety logs and lead by example through following proper procedure.
  • Performance Metrics: Ensure all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm, and regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
Qualifications
  • Communication Skills: Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and all personnel, good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to handle a diverse crew in a highly stressful environment.
  • Safety Knowledge: Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies, and the ability to apply on-the-job safety training to recognize and react to possible safety hazards on store premises.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physical Requirements: Stand in one place for a long period of time, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly, full range of upper body motion, lifting up to 80 pounds on an occasional basis, and occasional exposure to extreme temperatures such as freezers, coolers, kitchens, and sales floor.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
