Job Summary

The Legal Analyst, Benefits and Employment will be primarily responsible for supporting senior attorneys in both the Benefits, Payroll, and Compensation function, as well as the Employment Affairs function, with a wide range of research, drafting, projects, and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support senior attorneys in the Benefits, Payroll, and Compensation function, including responding to participant, agency, and plan provider record requests, providing support to payroll function and benefits team in legal matters, and coordinating annual benefit plan filings and review updates to summary plan descriptions.
  • Assist with preparation of materials and minutes for benefit plan committees, including drafting memoranda for committee decisions, drafting adverse benefit determination letters in connection with benefit claims, and researching basic tax and ERISA matters.
  • Support senior attorneys in the Employment Affairs function, including staying abreast of new local, state, and federal legislation impacting workplace policies or processes, drafting notices to HR clients to make them aware of legal developments, and drafting, editing, and revising workplace policies.
  • Perform legal research on a variety of employment law topics, including arbitration, harassment/discrimination, medical and religious accommodations, and summarize findings.
  • Assist senior attorneys and employee relations team in audits, policy reviews, and other efforts to ensure compliance with applicable law.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3 years of corporate, benefits, or employment paralegal experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Employment law knowledge or HR background preferred.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Experience drafting legal memos or other client-facing work product.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload, prioritize demands, and meet deadlines.
