Job Summary

The Software Engineering Director will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities of Software Engineering projects to ensure that project goals are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Visionary: Drive the InSite products internally by being the internal champion, an expert with the products that can explain the vision for the products, its marketplace/potential, and help create infectious enthusiasm for it.
  • External Product Ambassador: Drive the InSite products externally by helping get the message out externally in the engineering world to build excitement about working at SBM on innovative products and help sales organization as needed to close key customers and answer their concerns on the product technology road map, reliability, and scalability issues.
  • Team Leadership: Management of all aspects of the engineering and support teams including hiring, coaching, defining roles, and being the cultural leader of the teams.
  • Product Brainstorming: Be the leader & facilitator of product brainstorming meetings with engineering, sales, marketing, and other business owners.
  • Market Analysis: Help marketing and sales groups with qualitative and quantitative work to ensure marketplace fit / future need.
  • Product Specifications: Drive the specifications for the products.
  • Project Development: Drive the development of the projects; ensure the scope of work is properly defined and that the development team has a clear understanding of objectives.
  • Dependency Management: Identify and callout project/product dependencies.
  • Milestone Management: Develop manageable milestones and reliable timelines.
  • Commitment Management: Hold team members responsible for commitments.
  • Communication: Own the identification and communicate to the project stakeholders when timelines and commitments change.
  • Stakeholder Management: Own the process of providing clear and regular communication to key stakeholders such as sales, marketing, and business owners about the project progress and budget.
  • Process Improvement: Figure out and implement new processes as needed to improve quality, cost, or on-time delivery.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Establish and maintain relationships with key customer stakeholders on each project; continually seek to capitalize on opportunities to increase customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, or a related field from a four-year college or university with 10+ years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Clearance: Active/Transferable DoD TS Clearance preferred.
  • Compensation: $175,000 - $200,000 per year.
