About the Position

The City of Healdsburg is seeking two part-time Parks and Facilities Maintenance Assistants to join the Events & Facilities Division of the Community Services Department.

Job Summary

The Parks and Facilities Maintenance Assistant position is responsible for supporting the maintenance and upkeep of recreation facilities, parks, and grounds. This includes custodial needs, classroom set-ups, special events, landscaping, and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in general maintenance and cleaning of parks, recreation buildings, and facilities
  • Rake, weed, mow, and perform miscellaneous park maintenance repair work
  • Provide presence at public functions to prevent property damage to parks and recreation buildings and facilities
  • Perform set-up and take-down tasks for events
  • Sweep and mop floors, clean restrooms, empty trash containers, and general clean-up duties
  • Notify appropriate staff of the need for major repairs
  • Maintain basic records of work performed
  • Inventory equipment
Requirements
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial and grounds maintenance work, and safe work practices
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor, operate various tools and equipment, and perform simple grounds maintenance tasks
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions, work from simple sketches and diagrams, and work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with the public
Preferred Qualifications
  • Equivalent to graduation from high school
  • One year of experience in custodial and/or park maintenance is preferred
Working Conditions

The Parks and Facilities Maintenance Assistant will work under general supervision and may be required to work off-hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays. The position requires climbing ladders, carrying and lifting tools, equipment, and materials, and working in an outdoor environment subject to heat and cold.
