POSITION TITLE: HCNJ Peer Recovery Specialist

As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you will collaborate closely with Case Managers at Prevention Links Inc. This role is primarily community-focused, requiring you to engage with participants in various settings beyond the clinic. Your mission will be to empower individuals in their recovery journey, enhancing their ability to pursue personal goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with individuals to create a personalized Recovery Plan that incorporates culturally relevant services, identifies measurable objectives, and evaluates progress towards achieving these goals.
  • Educate clients on navigating treatment and recovery support systems effectively.
  • Deliver tailored recovery support services aligned with individual preferences and assessed needs.
  • Encourage clients through the stages of change, fostering their commitment to recovery.
  • Assist clients in accessing community-based recovery support services.
  • Work in partnership with case managers to ensure ongoing engagement in services.
  • Serve as a positive role model by sharing personal experiences and insights.
  • Maintain supportive relationships to facilitate treatment engagement and retention.
  • Reinforce the belief that recovery is achievable, drawing on individual strengths and resources.
  • Support individuals in developing skills and resources necessary for sustained recovery.
  • Help create a supportive social and physical environment conducive to recovery.
  • Promote involvement in the recovery community.
  • Advocate for effective community treatment and recovery options.
  • Empower individuals to make informed, self-directed choices regarding their recovery paths.
  • Facilitate community-based Mutual Aid meetings for clients.
  • Provide support through face-to-face sessions or telephone consultations based on individual preferences.
  • Conduct follow-ups with participants to ensure ongoing support and healthy functioning within their communities.
  • Participate in training programs, including the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy and Ethical Consideration Training, working towards CPRS peer certification.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Availability for on-call duties outside of regular hours to meet client needs.
  • Flexibility to perform responsibilities in diverse locations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Sensitivity and responsiveness to diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
  • Willingness to attend meetings and events during evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective time management skills to handle multiple priorities.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. and New Jersey.
  • Commitment to representing Prevention Links with excellence and collaboration.
  • Understanding of agency programs, grants, and projects.
  • Adherence to administrative and reporting guidelines for accurate documentation.
  • Participation in all required training sessions.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Physical capability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Possession of a valid New Jersey Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Completion of additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of an associate's degree is preferred, with a high school diploma or equivalent required. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in recovery principles that support individuals in enhancing their health and wellness, living independently, and achieving their potential.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This full-time position may require domestic travel, including local independent travel.

AVAILABILITY: Evening and weekend availability is essential.
