Job Summary

This role is responsible for maintaining critical facilities infrastructure as part of a close-knit team delivering best-in-class service to our data center customers. The successful candidate will have a substantial understanding of the job and be able to work on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations.

Responsibilities
  • Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance
    • Perform moderately difficult preventative and corrective maintenance checks on-site to facility components
    • Perform moderately difficult repairs, maintenance, installations, and on-site inspections to facility systems
    • Support energy efficiency measures
    • Monitor the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolve moderately difficult alarm issues while following standard operating procedures
    • Operate and maintain plumbing, fire suppression, and safety systems
    • Operate critical infrastructures under the supervision of more senior technical staff
  • Vendor Support
    • Support the work approval process for service providers on moderately difficult maintenance work, for tracking: briefing at the start of work, work during the day, and final review of the work carried out
    • Ensure vendor maintenance activities are carried out as per Equinix's standard operating procedures
    • In cooperation with vendors, support modifications to technical files for plants and equipment, ensuring files and builds are up-to-date
  • Site Administration & Incident Support
    • Perform moderately difficult site logs for permits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) and scripts
    • Identify Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and make recommendations
    • Respond to all moderately difficult on-site incidents, including failures, problems, and delays
    • Use substantial understanding in following operating procedures to support on-site administration
  • Work Orders & Additional Projects
    • Complete routine work requests and circuit installations
    • Troubleshoot and maintain office equipment (if necessary); support auxiliary equipment and machines with problem-solving and repairs to avoid/minimize downtime
    • Makes minor changes to mechanical, electrical, and specialized systems, as directed
    • Carries out infrastructure projects
  • Collaboration
    • Collaborate with others to resolve moderately difficult facility incidents
    • Effectively collaborate within the department; may mentor team members on general maintenance activities
    • Provide stakeholders with inventory needs to maintain optimal stock levels of critical parts and equipment
    • May recommend infrastructure projects
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of commercial MEP (mechanical/HVAC and/or electrician) experience in a mission-critical environment
  • High School Diploma
  • Natural curiosity and strong troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in a critical facility/mission-critical environment strongly preferred
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions, including walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting, and manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment/items up to 50 pounds
  • Available to work, days/nights/weekends/holidays on a two-week 2/2/3 rotating schedule
