The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking highly motivated undergraduate students to join our team as Information Technology Support Specialists. As a key member of our IT Services department, you will play a vital role in supporting a variety of information technology disciplines, including computing support, networking, systems administration, helpdesk support, and cybersecurity.

We are an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcome all transitioning military members to apply. As a valued member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, from end-user support to technical writing, and assist with the installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and support of computing and network hardware and software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional end-user support, ensuring that our team members have the technical assistance they need to succeed.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user guides, troubleshooting manuals, and technical reports.

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and support of computing and network hardware and software, including Microsoft Windows systems, iOS, and Linux.

  • Collaborate with our cybersecurity team to develop and implement effective security protocols and procedures.

  • Participate in the development of process and equipment documentation, and assist with equipment inventory and auditing.

  • Contribute to the development of programming and software development tasks, and other duties as assigned.

We are seeking students studying Information Science and Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering who possess excellent communication, customer service, technical writing, and organizational skills. Preferred skills and experience include configuration, installation, and support of network equipment, as well as programming.

The successful candidate will work up to 30 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours per week over the summer. Candidate selected may be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
