ABOUT ASSETS PROTECTION

The Assets Protection (AP) teams are essential in ensuring the safety and security of our guests, team members, and brand, especially during crisis situations.

They safeguard our sales by minimizing risks of loss, preventing, investigating, and resolving theft and fraud to ensure product availability for our guests.


As a Target Security Specialist, you will gain:
  • Skills in utilizing intelligence-driven strategies to ensure the safety of team members and guests.
  • Experience in crisis management, safety protocols, and crowd control, offering support to both guests and team members.
  • Expertise in de-escalation techniques and recovering stolen merchandise to mitigate loss.
  • Proficiency in using Target's video surveillance technology.
  • Ability to accurately document incidents using industry-standard case management systems.

Typical Responsibilities:
  • Enhance sales by warmly welcoming and engaging with guests and team members at the store entrance.
  • Foster a culture of physical security for team members and guests by assessing and upholding safety standards throughout the store, including the exterior.
  • Respond to and document security incidents with precision.
  • Utilize escalation tools effectively to address guest concerns, ensuring a secure environment for all.
  • Conduct effective merchandise recoveries and provide apprehension support as necessary, adhering strictly to AP policies and procedures.
  • Prevent theft and loss at the store entrance by performing receipt checks on high-value merchandise.
  • Submit thorough documentation for all incidents in accordance with AP policies.
  • Understand and utilize the video surveillance system appropriately.
  • Model safe working practices while maintaining a clean environment for guests and team members.
  • Deliver a shopping experience that meets the expectations of our guests.
  • Exemplify a culture of ethical behavior, safety, and compliance.
  • Work safely at all times, identifying and correcting hazards, and adhering to safety policies and best practices.

Essential Skills:

  • Capable of managing workload and prioritizing tasks independently.

  • Efficiently scan, handle, and move merchandise, including lifting or moving items up to 40 pounds.
  • Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; reliable attendance is essential.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions while performing job duties.
  • Capability to remain mobile throughout the duration of a scheduled shift.
