Job Summary
The Los Rios Community College District is seeking a qualified candidate for a part-time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position in Biological Sciences. This pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years.

As an adjunct faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean, helping students master course content, assessing student learning outcomes, and maintaining a thorough knowledge in your teaching field. You will also be expected to continue professional development, utilize current technology, and participate in faculty governance and accreditation activities.

Position Salary Information:
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract. For more information on the step placement process, please click here.

Typical Duties
The instructional assignment may encompass teaching courses across all levels in Biological Sciences. Specific courses offered may vary by campus. Courses for this assignment may include:
  • Introduction to Concepts of Human Anatomy and Physiology
  • Field Botany
  • Applied Microbiology: Scientific Literacy through Practical Uses of Microbiology

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Have a master's degree in any biological science; OR, bachelor's degree in any biological science AND master's in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science; OR the equivalent. All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by time of hire.
  2. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
