Medical Support Services Team Lead

Job Summary:
The Medical Support Services Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the Medical Support Services team, also known as Equipment Depot. This team plays a crucial role in securely storing, transporting, and cleaning clinical medical equipment, managing patient transport within the hospital, handling respiratory equipment and supply replenishment, and the code cart exchange program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee verification of inbound/outbound medical equipment, ensuring adherence to inventory protocols.
- Lead replenishment and expiration date checks of respiratory and code cart supplies.
- Document code cart exchange process via KitCheck system prior to deployment, guiding team members.
- Coordinate and schedule routine and preventative equipment maintenance with the BioMed team, offering mentorship as needed.
- Conduct quality control checks, preventative care, and cleaning of medical equipment, with a focus on training, development, and ensuring team competencies were completed while onboarding new team members.
- Assembles, calibrates, performs first-line troubleshooting, and performs quality assurance testing of respiratory equipment to verify proper functioning and ensure patient safety. If unable to troubleshoot, follow guidelines to report malfunctioning equipment.
- Assist the team in transporting patients to various hospital locations for medical procedures, maintaining a high standard of patient care and safety as needed.
- Monitor facility-fit system for transport requests, delegate tasks, and ensure timely completion.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma, GED, or a higher level of education would require the completion of high school. An Associate's degree is strongly preferred.
- 1 to 3 years relevant experience within a healthcare-specific environment highly desired or equivalent demonstrated knowledge and capability.

- Proficient in the use of computers and associated software programs, including Microsoft Office, Facility Fit, ERP system, and/or related software for transporting and equipment tracking.

Under the umbrella of the Supply Chain organization, the Equipment Depot Department stands as a centralized hub for all medical equipment, including respiratory items. This strategic alignment enhances operational efficiency for clinical staff, providing them with increased ease in obtaining necessary equipment.
Following patient discharge, our dedicated team, in collaboration with Environmental Services (EVS), ensures the seamless process of picking up, cleaning, and storing medical equipment in a sanitized room prepared for the next patient. This structured approach falls under the overarching umbrella of the Supply Chain organization, reinforcing the commitment to streamlined processes.
The involvement of the Patient Transport team within the broader Supply Chain framework is pivotal, as they play a crucial role in relocating patients within the hospital and facilitating discharges. This operational efficiency not only ensures the availability of vital medical resources but also allows Patient Care Associates (PCAs) to remain at the bedside, assisting nursing staff with direct patient care.
