Job Description

Overview of the Position:

  • Expertise in coverage options, terms, and conditions. Capability to propose coverage and terms that are both profitable
for the organization while fulfilling client requirements.

  • Risk Evaluation. Proficiency in identifying risk factors, unique or common hazards, and suitable controls. Skill in selecting
risks based on exposure and analytical assessments. Competence in evaluating claims and quantifying losses.

  • Financial Acumen. Comprehension of financial documents and ratios utilized in risk assessment. Insight into insurance
financial principles; understanding the effects of underwriting choices on company resources. Ability to grasp credit risk implications.

  • Actuarial Knowledge. Capability to interpret loss patterns, loss projections, and pricing strategies. Proficiency in quantifying risk based on
historical data and forecasting techniques.

  • Sales and Communication Skills. Ability to negotiate and sell effectively to ensure profitability for the organization. Proficiency in
delivering presentations and communicating clearly. Ability to base discussions on strategic insights. Skill in managing
broker relationships.

  • Technical Proficiency. Competence in utilizing systems and software necessary for daily operations
MAJOR DUTIES &

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Soliciting new and renewal proposals from brokers
  • Establishing terms and conditions along with intricate rating structures
  • Finalizing coverage agreements
  • Maintaining comprehensive underwriting documentation
  • Managing complex files and portfolios within designated underwriting authority
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in underwriting
  • Familiarity with various lines of insurance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of the insurance sector
  • Knowledge of underwriting principles, practices, and procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Negotiation expertise
  • Marketing capabilities
  • Basic leadership qualities.
