This role primarily operates within PNC's operational areas, with responsibilities that may require both in-office and field engagement, while also allowing for some remote work flexibility.
The Accounting Policy team, under the guidance of the Director of Accounting Policy, is seeking a strategic contributor to enhance our operations. This position reports directly to the Senior Accounting Manager and is integral to the leadership of the Accounting Policy team, offering significant visibility to senior leadership including the Controller and CFO.
A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to navigate diverse business functions and collaborate effectively with colleagues across various departments. This role will provide an in-depth understanding of PNC's financial and accounting processes, enabling the individual to leverage their technical accounting expertise for career advancement within the Accounting Policy team or other areas within Finance. PNC's Accounting Policy team is known for its rigorous selection process, ensuring we attract high-caliber talent to support our Finance organization and broader company objectives.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a robust technical accounting background—preferably within the banking sector—and a strong commitment to ethical standards. They will be adept at engaging with management, peers, and stakeholders to drive meaningful change.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate closely with PNC Finance personnel to analyze significant and complex business transactions, ensuring accurate technical accounting treatment and consolidated reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
• Monitor and assess the development and implementation of new accounting standards from regulatory bodies such as the FASB and SEC.
1.) Independently formulate and communicate insights on emerging accounting issues to the Director of Accounting Policy and the Corporate Controller.
2.) Engage proactively with business lines to evaluate impacts and contribute to the accounting standard-setting process, including coordination with regulators.
• Lead initiatives to define and implement new accounting standards and oversee regulatory reporting requirements.
1.) Design and communicate updates to corporate accounting policies, conducting thorough risk assessments and reviews with senior management.
Additional Responsibilities:
1.) Continuously assess departmental processes and recommend enhancements.
2.) Build and maintain strong partnerships with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
3.) Provide technical accounting support for business initiatives and projects.
Position Requirements:
• A minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience, including significant exposure to technical accounting topics at a large public accounting firm or within a leading financial institution's accounting policy team.
• Strong preference for experience in policy development and technical accounting research.
• A Bachelor's Degree is required; CPA designation is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive results within a complex organizational structure.
