Job Title: Co-Controller

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Co-Controller to join our accounting team at Owen Electric Company, Inc. The successful candidate will report to the CFO and play a key role in managing the financial operations of our company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the overall financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
  • Prepare and present financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Manage budget preparation and review budget vs. actual performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and procedures.
  • Provide support to project managers and operations team on financial matters related to construction projects.
  • Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Participate in the development of the company's strategic plans.
  • Train and mentor junior accounting staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with construction accounting software is highly desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
