Sheet Metal Mechanic
Job Summary:
The Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for the planning, layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of sheet metal components and systems. This role requires expertise in the properties of various materials and proficiency in using a range of tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret blueprints and specifications to determine the methods for fabricating and installing sheet metal products.
- Select appropriate materials based on project requirements.
- Accurately mark dimensions and reference lines on materials using mathematical and layout skills.
- Set up and operate various fabrication equipment and hand tools for cutting, bending, and forming materials.
- Finish surfaces through trimming, filing, grinding, and buffing using both manual and power tools.
- Assemble components using welding, soldering, and other fastening techniques.
- Install fabricated assemblies according to specifications, ensuring proper support and alignment.
- Conduct inspections of assemblies and installations to verify compliance with specifications.
- Fabricate ducts and components for HVAC systems to optimize performance.
- Ensure availability of necessary materials for project completion.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities and progress.
- Utilize various tools to fabricate and modify parts as needed.
- Safely maneuver and secure completed units in designated locations.
- Promote efficient use of materials and continuous improvement of processes.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of five years of experience in sheet metal work. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to accurately measure and fabricate fittings.
Language Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not involve supervisory duties.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic math skills are necessary, including the ability to perform calculations related to measurements and materials.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to understand and execute detailed instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
A valid driver's license is required, along with meeting MVR standards for operating company vehicles.
Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to climb ladders, lift heavy materials, and work in various environmental conditions.
Work Environment:
Employees must adhere to safety protocols and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties.
