Printpack is seeking an Industrial Engineer II who will utilize extensive and varied knowledge of engineering principles across a wide range of assignments and related fields. The ideal candidate will independently tackle engineering challenges and represent the organization in key discussions to address significant issues and coordinate work efforts.

This role necessitates the application of advanced methodologies and the adaptation of theories, principles, and practices from various scientific and engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engages in tasks that involve standard types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few intricate features for which established precedents exist.
  • Responsibilities typically encompass one or more of the following: Equipment design and development, vendor assessment, system testing, specification preparation, process analysis, research studies, report generation, and other activities requiring expertise in principles and techniques pertinent to the specific area of assignments.
  • Requires a comprehensive understanding of precedents in the specialty area and a solid grasp of the principles and practices of related fields.
  • In a leadership role, plans, develops, coordinates, and oversees significant engineering projects or multiple smaller projects with numerous complex features.
  • As an individual contributor, executes complex or innovative assignments necessitating the creation of new or enhanced techniques and procedures. Outcomes are expected to lead to the development of new or improved equipment, materials, processes, products, and/or methods.
  • As a subject matter expert, formulates and assesses plans and criteria for various projects and activities to be executed by others, evaluates the feasibility and integrity of proposed engineering assessments, products, or equipment, and when necessary, recommends testing for confirmation.
Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program, or equivalent, along with relevant continuing education. Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification is preferred.
Experience:
  • A minimum of four years of relevant engineering experience is required; ten years is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of industrial engineering principles, including experimental design, engineering statistics, economic analysis, equipment layout, and workflow optimization.
  • Possesses familiarity with general industrial engineering techniques such as time studies, root cause analysis, and Pareto analysis, and can apply this knowledge to analyze data and assess processes and challenges.
  • Capable of conducting thorough productivity assessments and root cause analyses, offering actionable recommendations regarding support equipment, operational processes, systems design, material handling, and facility design using both established and innovative engineering solutions.
  • Expertise in data collection and analysis to identify and rectify deficiencies, modeling work and material flow within a facility.
  • Adept at learning industry-specific manufacturing technologies and leveraging that understanding to conduct effective analyses and propose improvements to equipment and processes.
  • Skilled in making minor revisions and updates to layouts using Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD), including equipment placement adjustments, text modifications, and schematic representations of layout options.
  • Possesses general knowledge of other engineering disciplines, including Electrical, Mechanical, and Environmental Engineering, and can coordinate the efforts of others on minor projects.
  • Provides leadership in innovation and the adoption of new technologies.
  • Exhibits the insight and interpersonal skills necessary to resolve conflicts involving colleagues within the organization or with external partners.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of promoting and advocating for engineering services to internal stakeholders.
  • Engages with plant personnel at various levels throughout each project phase to gather data, comprehend operational methods, solicit design input, secure support for solutions, and facilitate system optimization.
Physical Demands:
  • The associate will be exposed to a manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include, but are not limited to, the use of Personal Protective Equipment, ladders, noise levels exceeding 80 dB, handling objects weighing up to 50 lbs., and exposure to solvent fumes and inks.
Travel Requirements:
  • Travel to various facilities to support projects is expected to be 30-40% annually. Some international travel may also be necessary, along with occasional weekend travel.
