General Overview and Classification Standards
As a Wastewater Operations Specialist, you will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and managing the wastewater treatment processes in the Atlanta region. Key responsibilities include operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting the treatment facility to prevent violations and protect the environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct sampling, monitoring, and testing to ensure adherence to regulations.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on treatment plant equipment.
- Respond to emergencies at the wastewater treatment facility.
- Provide training to others on the proper procedures for operating and maintaining facilities.
Work Schedule and Emergency Response: Be prepared to work rotating shifts and respond to emergencies as required.
Decision-Making Authority
Utilize standardized procedures to efficiently complete tasks.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Understanding of wastewater treatment processes and relevant regulations.
- Ability to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various environmental conditions.
Qualifications
Class III - Minimum Requirements - Education and Experience- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- At least 1 year of experience in a wastewater treatment facility or a related field.
Preferred Education & Experience
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a wastewater treatment facility or a related field.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid State of Georgia Driver's License is required.
- Class III Wastewater License is mandatory.
- Forklift Certification and/or Class B CDL is advantageous.
