Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Autonomy Solutions Architect to join our team at General Atomics and Affiliated Companies. As a key member of our Autonomy and Artificial Intelligence Solutions Software group, you will be responsible for developing and deploying end-to-end autonomous systems that enable unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to execute autonomous missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive vision, strategy, and technical direction for team's autonomy projects.
  • Lead development of robotic autonomy algorithms capable of making robust decisions for planning and control in uncertain, dynamic environments.
  • Research academic papers and translate research into implementable software solutions.
  • Write and test software to support the integration of autonomy algorithms into aircraft or other robotic systems.
  • Participate in and coordinate the establishment of design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, testing, and integration.
  • Ensure technical leadership and excellence is maintained by participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of the required management, professional, and technical talent.
  • Lead progress review sessions to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Identify engineering issues and provide leadership in developing software solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract(s).
  • Technical mentor to junior engineers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • Two or more years of progressive software development experience with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong Software System Architecture fundamentals.
  • Experience in two or more areas: autonomous control, optimization under uncertainty, route planning, trajectory optimization, autonomous decision making, collaborative autonomy, cognitive information processing, probability theory, obstacle avoidance, bio-inspired autonomy, perceptual autonomy, autonomous mission planning.
  • Experience in developing and leading scalable software architectures from scratch.
  • Research or industrial experience in the development of collaborative autonomous robotic systems.
  • Strong coding skills in Java, JavaScript, C/C++, Python.
  • Ability to architect, design, and develop complex software.
  • Technical expertise in the application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project management and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer focused, able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
