Job SummaryWe are seeking skilled Radiological Control Technicians (RCTs) to join the Radiation Protection (RP) Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). As an RCT, you will provide direct support to field implementation of the Radiation Protection Program through the execution of radiological job coverage, workplace surveys, and documentation of radiological data.
Key Responsibilities- Provide radiological support for moderate and high-hazard radiological work
- Implement radiation protection requirements and work independently on challenging projects
- Assist and mentor less experienced RCTs in the execution of radiation monitoring, contamination control, emergency response, and the implementation of radiation work permits and other work documents
- Serve as the primary Radiation Protection point of contact for assisting in job planning, coordinating resources, and resolving issues for radiological work activities
- Experience in providing radiological support for moderate and high-hazard radiological work
- Experience with advanced-level and technical knowledge in radiation protection principles and practices
- Experience with advanced-level radiation monitoring, personnel exposure control, and other radiation protection activities
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as respiratory protection, safety glasses, anti-contamination clothing
This position requires a high school diploma and a minimum of 5-6 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications- Prior DOE RCT experience
- Active DOE Q clearance
- Currently DOE Core certified
- NRRPT (National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists)
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, § 426.2.
The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
