Radiation Control Technician 4 Job Description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking a highly skilled Radiation Control Technician 4 to join our team at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM.

Job Summary

We are looking for a senior radiation protection technician with extensive experience in supporting radiological activities and facilities, as well as applying operational health physics to work. The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for planning, coordination of resources, and ensuring resolution of conflicting demands in highly dynamic and challenging conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that radiological controls are correctly applied for radiological work, including high-hazard radiological work, by serving as an authorized subject matter expert for development of radiological work control packages (RWCPs).
  • Provide coordination of work area resources as needed to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Fulfill customer radiation protection requests while ensuring established RP-1 priorities are followed.
  • Work effectively with customers and supervision to resolve problems, including elevation of issues beyond the ability of the RCT 4 to resolve.
  • Anticipate problems and handle unforeseen issues, including technical supervision responsibilities and providing technical leadership and review.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and four to six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional training, certification, and/or education may be expected, including associate degrees and graduation from technical institutions.
