Job Overview

The Dayton VA Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team in the Community Living Center, Hero's Point. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our nation's heroes.

About the Job
  • Provide Veteran/resident care and perform clinical procedures, technical procedures, and ancillary services.
  • Perform an assortment of personal care or nursing care activities that do not require licensure and/or education.
  • Assist patients with self-care as required, and maintain as much independence as possible.
Responsibilities
  1. Listens attentively to report and note pertinent items.
  2. Accepts adults' chosen lifestyles and assists necessary adjustments relating to health.
  3. Recognizing adults' values and function of independence and ability to be self-sustaining in life.
  4. Assisting patients to keep physically and socially active and to maintain peer group interactions.
  5. Assisting patients to cope with loss, e.g., hearing, eyesight, and death of significant others.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary: $45,000-$65,000 per year.
  • Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time off per year.
  • Parental Leave: Up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
  • Child Care Subsidy: Full-time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs.
