Position Overview
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is actively seeking temporary local hires to support disaster response and recovery initiatives.
Local hire personnel are generally residents of the affected areas who contribute to the recovery efforts within their communities, assisting fellow citizens during challenging times.
Employment Duration
Each local hire's employment term is set for 120 days, with the possibility of extensions in 120-day increments based on the ongoing needs of the disaster response.
Key Responsibilities
FEMA is looking for candidates with a background in site assessment or construction. If selected, your role will involve various stages of the site inspection process.
Typical Duties Include:
- Conducting Damage Description and Dimensions (DDD) using photographs, site sketches, and damage evaluations.
- Documenting an applicant's reported damages across all work categories.
- Completing a Site Inspection Report (SIR) and uploading all relevant documentation into the Customer Relations Management Tool.
- Reporting the status of activities to your immediate supervisor.

Qualifications
To qualify for the Local Hire (Site Inspector Specialist) role, candidates should have experience in:
- Conducting damage inspections and assessments.
- Analyzing building codes and standards.
