About the Role

As a Utility Maintenance Specialist at American Water, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our distribution system. Your primary responsibilities will include locating, inspecting, operating, maintaining, replacing, and installing all company assets as required to maintain the distribution system. This will involve conducting leak detection on water mains, hydrants, valves, and services to reduce lost water, participating in the distribution system flushing program, and performing work under a team concept on the distribution system, including new construction, customer services, meter installation, and meter reading as assigned by the supervisor.

Key Accountabilities

* Makes the decisions necessary to carry out work assignments delegated by the supervisor.
* Conducts leak detection on water mains, hydrants, valves, and services to reduce lost water.
* Participates in the distribution system flushing program.
* Performs work under a team concept on the distribution system, including new construction, customer services, meter installation, and meter reading as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

* High school diploma or state recognized Educational Equivalency Certificate.
* IA State Driver's license is required. CDL license preferred.
