Job Summary

Centerline Logistics Corporation is seeking an experienced Inland Captain/Pilot to lead our tug and barge operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for safely navigating our vessels through various waterways, ensuring the well-being of our crew and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Navigation: Act as lead or second in command of the tug and barge, understanding and carrying out orders and directions from the captain.
  • Tow Operations: Safely make and break tow with barges, transit locks, and bridges during high and low water conditions.
  • Maintenance and Cleanliness: Ensure the vessel is well-maintained and clean, adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
  • Training and Development: Instruct deckhands in seamanship skills and ensure they are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.
  • Communication and Coordination: Effectively communicate with the captain and other crew members to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Must have a valid Master of Inland Towing with Western Rivers and Radar Observer endorsement.
  • Experience: Proven experience operating on the Port Allen Route and South of Baton Rouge.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to read, speak, and understand English over telephone and/or radio.
  • Training and Certifications: Must have Coast Guard-approved firefighting training, a valid first aid certificate, and CPR training.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including pulling heavy lines/hoses, lifting, carrying heavy items, and climbing onto barges and up and down ladders.
  • Environmental Factors: Exposure to various weather conditions, including rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, and heavy seas.
