Job Summary

Centerline Logistics Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Inland Captain/Pilot to join our team. As a key member of our marine transportation operations, you will be responsible for safely navigating our tug and barge vessels through various waterways, including the Mississippi River System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Navigation: Act as lead or second in command of the tug and barge, ensuring safe and efficient navigation through various water conditions.
  • Vessel Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the vessel, including inspections and repairs as needed.
  • Deckhand Supervision: Instruct and supervise deckhands in seamanship skills, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.
  • Communication and Coordination: Communicate effectively with the captain and other crew members to ensure smooth operations and safe navigation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, including those related to safety, environmental protection, and cargo handling.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications: Must have a valid Master of Inland Towing with Western Rivers and Radar Observer endorsement.
  • Experience: Experience operating on the Port Allen Route and South of Baton Rouge is highly desirable.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to read, speak, and understand English over telephone and/or radio.
  • Training and Certifications: Must have Coast Guard approved firefighting training, a valid first aid certificate, and CPR training.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Must be physically fit enough to perform the functions of the job, including pulling heavy lines/hoses, lifting, carrying heavy items, and climbing onto barges and up and down ladders.
  • Environmental Conditions: Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, and heavy seas.
