Overview

This position involves entry-level financial operations tasks, including the documentation, examination, and management of monetary transactions, records, and paperwork to support the financial functions of the organization. Employees engage in a variety of essential responsibilities, executing routine and standardized tasks under close guidance.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities are fundamental duties common to all roles within this classification. These responsibilities are not an exhaustive list of all tasks for any specific position in the series. Since class specifications are descriptive rather than restrictive, employees may undertake similar duties not explicitly listed here. Evaluates forms and source documents such as invoices, receipts, claims, or service agreements to finalize purchase orders; ensures accuracy, completeness, necessary documentation, and approvals in accordance with relevant procedures, practices, and standards. Confirms or determines the appropriate classification and coding of transactions. Utilizes commercial and proprietary automated information systems and software to input, update, modify, delete, retrieve, and report on data. Applies standard formulas to perform and verify calculations; monitors balances and identifies and reports discrepancies. Establishes and maintains financial records, documents, and files. Generates reports and summaries regarding account statuses or other financial information. Contributes to recommending modifications to internal procedures, forms, or process improvements. Collects and compiles data for higher-level personnel. Conducts general office tasks and functions as assigned, such as preparing correspondence and distributing documents. May execute payroll entries and manage payroll within automated information systems. Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external clients and the public through various communication methods. Effectively communicates and interacts with individuals across diverse cultures, abilities, genders, ethnicities, ages, and races.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS for Financial Operations Associate I
Candidates must possess education, training, and/or experience demonstrating proficiency in each of the following areas: Coursework, training, and/or work experience in processing accounting, auditing, or payroll transactions in compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
