About the Role

The Getty Museum seeks a Social Media Specialist III to join its Public Affairs department. This role will involve developing and implementing digital communications strategies for Museum initiatives across its social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn).

The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and help shape potential content for social media that engages followers and helps build new audiences. They will also reach out to relevant community organizations to develop and coordinate social media trades and special collaborations.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and manage social media strategies for the Getty Museum and its exhibitions, collections, and special programs/projects
  2. Strategize to build, grow, and manage the digital community that subscribes to our social media platforms
  3. Work with various Museum departments (curatorial, conservation, public programs, education) to identify and prioritize opportunities for the development of social media posts
  4. Source materials needed to develop social media outreach (i.e., photos, video) and ensure proper approval to share said material on social media channels
  5. Manage the logistics related to the execution of social media content, including securing necessary approvals from key stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to digital media production, communications, journalism, or art history
  • Minimum 4-6 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience
