Patient Care Receptionist

The role of the Medical Office Receptionist is crucial in ensuring smooth operations within the healthcare environment. This position involves welcoming visitors and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Interaction: Greet patients and visitors, providing them with essential information and assistance.
- Data Management: Accurately enter and update patient demographics and insurance details in the system.
- Communication: Manage incoming and outgoing calls, directing them appropriately and relaying messages as needed.
- Appointment Coordination: Organize and schedule patient appointments, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
- Office Maintenance: Keep the reception area organized and tidy, while monitoring and ordering necessary office supplies.
- Information Handling: Respond to inquiries, review files, and manage incoming requests for information.
- Workflow Coordination: Maintain records of office activities and ensure smooth workflow.
Responsible for scheduling all surgical and radiologic procedures as directed by physicians.
Documentation ResponsibilitiesComplete essential paperwork including orders, consent forms, insurance authorizations, and coding for procedures. Ensure all pre-operative appointments are set and assist patients in completing necessary documentation.
Scribing DutiesAccompany physicians during patient examinations to accurately document medical histories and physical assessments, ensuring all symptoms and diagnoses are recorded correctly.
Prior Authorization TasksCode all surgical and radiologic procedures, verifying insurance coverage and benefits, and ensuring compliance with prior authorization requirements.
Referral ManagementSchedule patient appointments with specialists as needed, ensuring all relevant records are sent and patients are informed.
QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in a medical front office setting is preferred, along with knowledge of medical terminology.
Skills: Strong critical thinking abilities, decisive judgment, and the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment are essential.
