Position Overview: The Vice President of Environmental Stewardship & Compliance will spearhead the formulation of strategies, policies, and objectives that drive our environmental stewardship and compliance initiatives in alignment with Regeneron's growth trajectory. This newly established position presents a unique opportunity to architect and oversee the evolution of our environmental compliance and sustainability framework across our research and global operational sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Crafting and executing strategic objectives, including comprehensive programs, policies, and procedures for environmental compliance and sustainability.
- Delivering expert guidance and leadership to implement relevant programs, such as remediation, wastewater management, regulated waste handling, air quality control, and sustainability initiatives.
- Leading a team of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) professionals, ensuring effective execution of environmental and sustainability responsibilities.
- Contributing to the corporate development of methodologies, techniques, and evaluation criteria for various projects and team members.
- Serving as the organization's spokesperson on significant matters related to environmental policies and objectives.
- Evaluating program effectiveness to identify areas for improvement, including training and development opportunities.
- Reviewing incident investigation reports and corrective measures to mitigate future occurrences.
- Providing expert support for construction projects throughout all phases, including design, execution, and post-completion.
Qualifications:
- A comprehensive understanding of compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and standards.
- Experience in developing strategies for complex problems that require cross-functional collaboration to meet environmental compliance.
- Proven track record in managing contracts and external consultants as a subject matter expert impacting environmental and sustainability initiatives.
- Demonstrated success in leading high-performing teams and mentoring managers and individual contributors within EH&S functions.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance and/or sustainability, with a Master's degree preferred. A minimum of 4 years in a supervisory role is required. Experience in the pharmaceutical or biologics sectors is preferred, although candidates from manufacturing or academia will also be considered.
