Role Summary
Under general oversight, this role is essential in safeguarding the financial integrity of our healthcare facility by facilitating financial arrangements for patients lacking insurance or facing financial hardships. This includes collecting necessary deposits and assisting patients in securing financial aid from external organizations and charitable entities when required. The position also involves coordinating feasible payment plans with the Patient Accounting and Physician Billing departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews with self-pay and discount program patients to assess their financial capabilities. (15%)
  • Engage with patients to address complex issues such as legal matters, insurance inquiries, and prior debts. (15%)
  • Negotiate payment plans and manage follow-up collections. (15%)
  • Collect co-payments and other payments, ensuring accurate issuance of receipts and cash drawer management. (15%)
  • Prepare financial assessment reports for the Patient Access Director. (15%)
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to patients and colleagues. (5%)
  • Update and maintain patient demographic records. (5%)
  • Compile statistical data as needed. (5%)
  • Provide counseling to patients unable to pay and refer them to appropriate assistance agencies. (5%)
  • Review outstanding balances and collect necessary co-pays and deposits. (5%)
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues, patients, and visitors, demonstrating respect and empathy in all interactions. (0%)

Educational Requirements:

  • No High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience Requirements:

  • Preferred two years of experience in a hospital or medical office environment.
  • Experience in customer service, with the ability to engage with a diverse patient demographic.

Licenses and Certifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bilingual abilities are preferred.
  • Proficient in PC applications, particularly Windows and Excel, as well as healthcare software.
  • Typing speed of at least 25 words per minute.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a focus on customer service and critical thinking.

Compensation:
$30.41 per hour
