Job Summary:

Middlebury College is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Event Logistics Coordinator to provide set-up, tear-down, clean-up, and other logistics duties for all campus events. This is a labor-intensive position that requires interface with nearly all constituents of the MIIS community, including faculty, staff, and students, as well as with outside organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate logistics for all Institute events, including set-up, tear-down, and clean-up.
  • Perform walk-throughs with event organizers in advance of events and provide guidance on optimal set-up.
  • Maintain a schedule of all events requiring logistical support.
  • Ensure all event-related items, such as tables, chairs, linens, and area heaters, are in good condition and properly maintained.
  • Manage the inventory of Institute flags and ensure they are properly displayed on buildings each semester.
  • Provide additional special logistics needs and other duties as assigned by the Vice President's Office.

Requirements:

  • A combination of education and experience that demonstrates relevant skills, preferably with a Bachelor's degree and/or experience in facilities and event/conference set-up.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and logistical skills.
  • Strong human relations, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills and/or experience.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to effectively use computerized information systems, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of safety, particularly in moving and handling heavy equipment.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

This is a labor-intensive position that frequently requires physical exertion, including bending, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting/carrying objects up to 40 pounds. Requires the ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
