Librarian for the Arts

The University of Virginia Library seeks a highly skilled professional to serve as the Librarian for the Arts. This is an Academic General Faculty (AGF) position on the Library track, which is tenure-ineligible.
Key Responsibilities- Provide research assistance to scholars at all levels and participate in digital scholarship projects in collaboration with faculty, students, and library colleagues.
- Engage with faculty to integrate information, digital, and data literacy concepts and skills into the curriculum and provide instruction in a variety of forms.
- Work with the Collections Management team and other liaisons to establish collection priorities for art-related disciplines, recommend specific purchases, and promote newly acquired resources.
- Be an important supportive and collaborative presence for scholars located in and around the University of Virginia's Arts Grounds.
- Participate in regional and/or national professional organizations related to academic librarianship and arts librarianship in particular.

Qualifications- A master's degree in library or information science, or a terminal degree in an arts-related discipline and appropriate experience in an academic library.
- Strong background in art history, studio art, or a related field.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and enthusiasm for the possibilities offered by academic librarianship as a profession.
- Familiarity with the tools and methods of digital scholarship.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, team-based organization.
- Commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace and an ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
