Job Summary

The John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a highly skilled Production Manager to oversee the coordination and execution of live events and theatrical productions. This is a critical role that requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the presentation and production of performances and events, ensuring seamless execution and high-quality results.
  • Manage production operation details, including scheduling, budgeting, and logistics, for multiple productions and events simultaneously.
  • Develop and implement creative solutions to production problems, while adhering to labor agreements, inventory, and schedule constraints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including artistic, technical, and administrative staff, to ensure successful event execution.
  • Serve as in-house production designer for major fundraising events and general aesthetic designer for stage presentations and outside events.
  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of all areas of theatrical production and presentation, including technical production, stage management, and production design.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure the Kennedy Center remains at the forefront of live event production.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in theatrical production management, technical production, stage management, and/or production design.
  • Bachelor's degree required; experience in theatrical design or technical management strongly recommended.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and financial management skills, as well as supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, as well as AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks.
  • Basic knowledge of ArtsVision software for production and programming calendars a plus.
  • Local candidate preferred, but willing to relocate to the DMV area.
