General Description
The EMT Instructor Intern will be responsible for teaching course segments as assigned by the EMT Program Coordinator, under the direct supervision of a NJ certified EMT Instructor.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses material in accordance with the approved course outline, in accordance with the schedule of classes, and incorporating alternative approaches, technologies, and methods when possible.

• Meet all scheduled class sessions.

• Advise the Program Coordinator of absences in a timely manner.

• Cooperate with the Coordinator in developing and revising courses of study and curricula when asked.

• Incorporate an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.

• Attend scheduled program staff meetings.

• Plan in advance to ensure the availability of classroom equipment requisite to successful teaching of assigned tasks.

• Adhere to professional standards of procedures.

• Adhere to College policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Certification or license as needed and appropriate as outlined by the NJ State Department of Health- OEMS for EMT Interns.

• Demonstrated mastery of subject matter of discipline.

• Demonstrated ability to teach.

• Commitment to incorporating a culturally diverse perspective into the curriculum.

• Knowledge of competency-based education.

• Fundamental competency in the use of information technology.

• Commitment to continued assessment of the teaching-learning process and its outcomes.

Work Environment

• This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.

• Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

• Some travel required.

Terms of Employment
Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required.
