HVAC Controls Engineer Intern

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented HVAC Controls Engineer Intern to join our team at Southland Industries. As an HVAC Controls Engineer Intern, you will assist our design and operations team in all aspects of our work, including product and service training, problem evaluation and resolution, and software design and programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support product and service training to customers
  • Provide and document feedback on problem evaluation and resolution to project leaders
  • Perform low to medium complex software design and programming, trial runs and investigative tests
  • Attend pre-booking meetings to gain knowledge of the sales estimate and project scope
  • Maintain accurate and thorough project documentation and redlines
  • Support owner training as required by the project
  • Work with engineering group to create and/or verify point database
  • Verify point database and programming operations are consistent with scope of work for the intended integration and sequence
  • Troubleshoot and resolve inconsistencies in the functions or sequence of operations
  • Participate in final inspection and testing, assure customer acceptance, and conduct training for end user customers on system operations

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and drive to get the job done
  • Strong communication skills, ability to be resourceful and resilient, and solve problems with limited support
  • Quick learner, seeks answers on their own, and has a positive attitude during adverse/non-ideal situations
  • Exercises accountability in stressful situations, has a collaborative spirit, and is a good teammate
  • Strong active listening skills, competent general business writing and public speaking
