Production Lease Operator

Position: Lease Operator - Pumper
Work Schedule: 10 days on / 4 days off
Position Summary:
The Lease Operator is accountable for the secure and effective management, observation, and upkeep of wells, processing units, and associated facilities. This role necessitates a keen emphasis on the operations of oil, gas, and water separation facilities, alongside essential utilities and secondary expertise in all operational aspects. This is a significant project that encompasses not only the initiation of on-site facilities but also the application of operational tools, protocols, work-permitting, and training. Candidates with a background in the startup and operation of new facilities are highly sought after.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure personal safety and the safety of colleagues by adhering to and enforcing all safety regulations.
- Act as the primary operations contact for assigned facilities, comprehending process flow, basic chemistry, major line-ups, and all safety equipment.
- Conduct physical inspections and monitor equipment using various senses to confirm proper functioning.
- Issue Safe Work Permits, demonstrating a high level of proficiency regarding current operating conditions and associated safety risks.
- Perform gas testing as required to guarantee the safety of the operating area for maintenance activities.
- Engage in process monitoring tasks, including gauging tanks, reading meters, accurately recording data, and checking for leaks.
- Execute visual maintenance by assessing critical performance indicators such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate.
- Adjust local process parameters to maintain product specifications within optimal operating ranges.
- Maintain company vehicles in good working order.
- Coordinate oil sales and saltwater hauling as needed.
- Keep precise electronic or paper gauge sheets and document reasons for production variations.
- Verify control valve positions to ensure correct settings.
- Carry out basic equipment maintenance tasks.
- Communicate with the Production Foreman to stay updated on process conditions and necessary changes.
- Oversee winterization and summarization of equipment for maximum efficiency.
- Utilize electronic test equipment to monitor field equipment.
- Inspect safety equipment regularly.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of all assigned business aspects.
- Comply with environmental policies and procedures, prioritizing the resolution of environmental issues.
- Follow all operational guidelines and continuously enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and the ability to work independently when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Must reside within a specified distance from the work location.
- A high school diploma is required; a college degree or trade school certification is preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit.
- Willingness to work on a rotating shift is necessary.
- Availability for call-outs as situations arise.
- Ability to effectively engage in a multi-cultural environment.
- Proficient in maintaining, operating, and repairing surface equipment related to oil and gas production.
- Strong computer skills along with effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Must be physically capable of lifting over 50 lbs and climbing ladders/stairways.
- Ability to utilize safety equipment such as Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
