Position Overview:
Eaton's IS AER MSD division is seeking a Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer. This role offers a competitive annual salary, which is determined based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Orchard Park facility is home to a growing team of approximately 450 professionals, specializing in high-pressure pneumatic systems across various sectors, including Space Life Support, Space Propulsion, and Commercial Aviation Emergency Actuation.

As a Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in research and new product development within Eaton's Mission Systems Division (MSD). Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Design and analysis of mechanical systems, ensuring alignment with project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Transforming conceptual designs into viable product solutions.
  • Identifying and managing technical risks through comprehensive risk assessment and data-driven design modifications.
  • Establishing engineering standards and design guidelines to foster continuous improvement.
  • Implementing Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles to ensure product quality and manufacturability.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and various engineering teams, to develop effective systems and products.
  • Mentoring junior engineers within your area of expertise.

Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in system or product design and development.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship.
  • Compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) as a U.S. person.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven technical leadership capabilities in cross-functional team settings.
  • Ability to work independently while receiving guidance from technical leaders.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on collaboration.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD and a solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Experience with aerospace product introduction methods and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of high-pressure pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
